I actually worked at this museum the first couple months we lived here. I basically hated it. BUT it is really awesome for the kiddos and I was excited to take my kids there someday (I was pregnant with Addi when I was working there). Gappy (my Dad) was in town all last week and we decided we needed a break from the walls of my house. Addi was pretty much in heaven!

2+2=4
We made it! The little man is here and he stole my heart pretty quickly.
I had a repeat c-section seeing as big as he was. I didn't want to have the same experience that I had with Addi where I pushed for two hours and then rushed in to get a c-section. So I opted to just go in for the surgery as much as I just wanted to try a vbac. I remember hearing him cry and doctors and nurses saying, "whoa, he is a huge baby" and "now that's some placenta!"..... ummm yea.... 9lbs 8ounces! I look at him now and wonder how in the world he fit inside of me.
After the c-section the ride got pretty rough for awhile as I had excessive bleeding. They couldn't figure out why it was happening and therefore weren't really sure what to do. There were a lot of nervous glances and whispers of my uterus needing to be removed. Blood was being ordered, but they wanted to wait to give it to me. I said a desperate prayer through my medicated fog and slowly the bleeding subsided. No blood needed and my uterus is still intact (just very stretched at the moment). Praise the Lord!
Memorial Herman is awesome because they strongly believe in breastfeeding. In fact they encourage you to exclusively breastfeed even in the hospital. In my experience with other hospitals they like to give formula when mom is tired or sleeping. So, I took the challenge of only giving him breast milk in the hospital and was rewarded with a certificate (cheesy, but I was proud of myself). Brandly also spent the whole time in our room which I was excited about as I didn't get to see Addi for two days after she was born (don't get me started on what I think about the hospital I had her in.... HORRIBLE).
We are so excited that our Brandly is here happy and healthy. Addi is in love with her little brother and her maternal instincts are in full swing. She is really into the fact that he poops so much :) The other night as Andy was putting her to sleep she heard Brandly crying and said, " It's ok. It's the baby. He poops". Love it! She hates it when he cries and would cry with him the first couple times she heard him. Now she sweetly says, "It's ok, it's ok" to him. I am so thankful that she is happy to have him apart of our family and is ready to jump in full swing into her big sister role. Brandly is super sweet and adorable and is considerably easier then Addi was..... although he is considerably more hungry! This makes my life a little easier and enjoyable which is a blessing. God is good!
..........Now all that's left is to burn off this belly that shakes like a bowl full of jelly!

Quick Note to My Babies
Tomorrow is the big day! Our life will once again drastically change as we go from a family of three to four. It is strange how bitter/sweet it is..... ok the sweet FAR outweighs the bitter. I will just miss my one on one relationship with Addi. She is it and it will never just be me and her again. BUT I am sooooo excited that our little baby boy arrives tomorrow and I look forward to getting to know and love him.
To Addi:
Big girl, I am so excited to watch you transform into a big sister. I know you will love and protect your baby brother like no other. I hope your friendship with him runs deep and your love deeper still. I am so proud of the little girl you are. You are beautiful inside and out and have such a sweet and sassy inner spirit that I love. I know you don't have a clue as to what is about to hit you, but I know you will handle it with such ease and grace. I love you sweet girl!
To Brandly:
We are so excited to meet you! How special that you get to share your birthday with your daddy! I didn't grow up with a brother so I really have no idea what to expect, but I am looking forward to all your boy spirit! I'll take the dirt and scraped knees!
I pray that you will grow into a Godly man, who seeks the Lord with diligent integrity. I also pray you will be a leader of Godly character throughout your life. What a blessing you are to us!
See you tomorrow!

It's a Boy's Room
About two years ago, we inherited some awesome antique firetruck toys from "the farm" (meaning Andy's grandparents house up in Nebraska). These awesome toys used to be Andy's Grandpa's and thus are not only very cool, but extremely special. When we claimed these toys for our own, we were pregnant but didn't know at the time if we were having a boy or a girl.... turns out it was a girl. So, I packed the firetrucks up in hopes that one day we would have a little boy room to decorate. Well, almost two years later... what do you know? A little boy is expected to arrive any day and he has a room that is decorated with those very same antique toys that waited in great anticipation to be pulled out of their dusty box.
I actually made this little artwork :) Cost me a whole $15..... even better! |
The antique firetrucks and some other old toys that I had to add.... they can't just sit in a box! |
I made the cute little pillow too :) |
We are READY for you baby boy!

I married the REAL Prince Charming
I mean, really, who wants a man that comes riding in on bright sunny days to be the hero. What about the other parts of the day/week/month/ and year when Cinderella isn't feeling up for chores, Sleeping Beauty can't get out of bed, and Beauty is looking more beastly.... where is the Prince then? Actually, he is currently being held hostage in my little cottage. That's right! I married the REAL Prince Charming and he happens to have a real name... just call him Andy :)
He doesn't just "save" me on the days that will bring him glory and victory, but he wins the little battles that take place in real life on a daily basis. You know what I'm talking about.... he is currently married to a 38 week pregnant lady who has taken the shape of a watermelon. My Prince Charming cooks dinner, cleans the floors, does the dishes, and the laundry. Did I mention he bakes too?? He has taken on all kind of crazy house projects along with potty training a 20month little girl (which requires a significant amount of cleaning pee off hardwood floors and rugs....and occasionally himself). My prince is the down on the floor, get me involved kind of dad too. He is pretty dreamy if I say so myself.
Hey, babe, if you read this (which I am going to tell you to do) ... just know that I appreciate ALL that you have done, not only in the past 9 months, but our whole marriage. You make my life a whole lot sweeter (and easier) and I am so thankful for the blessing that is YOU! LOVE YAH!
